SSLC toppers received Laptops from state minister

34 students who scored high in their SSLC examination were presented with laptops. Yesterday, students with high scores in 2008-2009 SSLC examination received laptops from Transport Minister K.N. Nehru. The function was attended by Forest Minister N. Selvaraj and Collector T. Soundiah. As per the government order, 34 students who has scored above 480 marks were presented with the laptop worth Rs. 30,680. The only criteria was that the students should have taken Tamil as the medium of study.

The laptops distributed by the government for each district has got a camera and a DVD writer. It can be used continuously using an adapter through electricity lines and as well as for two hours using the batteries.

Anna University Tiruchi MBA/MCA application date extended

Anna University Tiruchi has announced that the lats date for issuing the MBA/MCA application has been extended up to July 07, 2009. The applications are being issued at the main campus and the courses include M.B.A (Finance, HR, Marketing, Systems, Operations – Regular), M.C.A both evening and regular and M.E (evening).

The dates have been extended with the announcement of TANCET results.

Temples in Tiruchi

Tiruchi is mainly spoken for temples, so the place has more historic significance. It has many tourist places. In Tiruchi is the famous Rock fort temple. The temple is situated in the hill top and the main deity of this temple is Lord Ganesh. The statue of Lord Ganesha is a curved out of a huge rock. The specialty of this temple is that, the rocks are as old as Himalayas. Moreover it is near to a shopping place called Chatram which is a textile centre. The next is Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple which is a Vishnu temple, it is located in middle of the Kaveri River. This temple has 21 gopurams and the temple has good art work in it its statues and carvings. The other one is Thayumanaswamy Temple which is built for Lord Shiva. It was built during Pallava period. So the rock works and carving works in this temple are based on the Pallavar style. The next is Jambukeshwara Temple which is built for Lord Shiva, it is from 2 km from Srirangam. The main feature of this temple is the Shiva lingam submerged in water which is from the subterranean spring. Apart from this there are many other temples in and around the city like Thiruvallarai Vishnu Temples, Thiruppaigeeli Siva Temple, Gunaseelam Vishnu Temple, Samayapuram Temple and Nachiyaar Temple.
